Public Policy – The Association serves as a voice in the policymaking arena. It furthers its policy work through service to, and/or affiliations with, the following groups: National Low Income Housing Coalition; Nebraska REALTORS® Association Equal Opportunity Committee; Opportunity @ Work Coalition, RentWise Coalition, Nebraska Commission on Housing & Homelessness – Policy and Issues Committee, Education & Awareness Committee, and Ad Hoc Committee to End Chronic Homelessness. The Association supports the continued growth of the Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund (NAHTF). NAHTF was created by the 1996 Nebraska Affordable Housing Act with the purpose of enhancing the economic development of the State and contributing to the general prosperity of Nebraska's citizens through the provision of safe, decent and affordable housing.  For information about the NAHTF since its creation, see:

BuildNebraska.org – The Association launched this statewide public education campaign in 2004 to spread the message about the economic and social benefits of affordable housing while broadening opportunities for public comment and increased citizen participation on this important issue. The campaign posts quarterly reports on the Nebraska Housing Trust Fund issued by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. The Association also hosts a housing supporters list serve for people who join the campaign to allow for a free exchange of information on policies and issues.

“The Nebraska Housing Developers Association has really embraced advocacy as an important service. They speak more globally than any one organization. What they are saying represents a more universal voice.” Lara Huskey, Nebraska Department of Economic Development
