Organizational Development - The Nebraska Housing Developers Association works with its members to increase their capacity to develop affordable housing and to function as effectively managed organizations. Staff and Board members grow their skills and improve their performance through planning and training opportunities offered by the Association. The Association developed its Standards of Excellence to serve as a guide for operating an effectively managed organization. These Standards include assessment forms that aid staff, board members and partners to continually evaluate organizational performance. New on-line training tools have been developed to assist member organizations grow their capacity and are linked to the Standards of Excellence assessments. Annual Housing Event – Each year, the Association hosts an annual Build Nebraska housing event that brings together hundreds of nonprofit and for-profit housing development professionals, economic development officials, bankers, real estate agents and government officials to learn about housing resources and methods for housing development, discuss housing policy issues and identify priorities for the allocation of housing resources. Information Network –Association staff respond to hundreds of requests for technical assistance each year, ranging from answering queries about housing resources to assisting with grant writing and project development. The Association providies web-based resources and an on-line direct service request form. Association staff also serve as liaisons to numerous groups including the Nebraska Commission on Housing and Homelessness, the Ad Hoc Committee to End Chronic Homelessness, the Midwest Housing Fund Loan Committee, the Lincoln Human Rights Commission, the Opportunity @ Work Coalition, the Nebraska RentWise Coalition and the Nebraska REALTORS® Association Equal Opportunity Committee.
