Nebraska, like many other states, is experiencing a shortage of quality affordable housing. Housing shortages limit an individual’s choice of where to live and the ability to seek and sustain employment. Our workforce is directly affected by the quality and cost of housing. For individuals, quality affordable housing is the basis for economic stability and self-sufficiency. For communities, schools, and businesses, it is a critical part of any sustainable, successful community economic development strategy.

Nebraska Housing Developers Association seeks to build a coalition of informed, active proponents of affordable housing that can actively seek and promote opportunities in all of Nebraska’s communities. Working together, we can provide accurate and timely information to decision-makers so that they can join us to further the goal of making quality affordable housing available to all Nebraskans. Recent Association Efforts to Support the Trust Fund

The Nebraska Legislature's Appropriations Committee includes an FY 2010/2011 $1.6M cut to the Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund (NAHTF) in their Appropriations Committee Budget Recomendations - March, 2010 submitted to the Legislature.

Although any cuts to the NAHTF have a negative impact on our economy and the people in Nebraska, a $1.6M cut is obviously much better than a $3.6M cut and there are no proposed cuts in subsequent years as was also discussed by the Appropriations Committee.
