2009 Summit Report Available

The 2009 Build Nebraska Housing Policy Summit was held on August 4, at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln, Nebraska.

One of the first steps to moving forward with the work we identified at the Summit is providing you with this Preliminary Report.  This report has been updated from the report that was distributed at the close of the Summit.

Please click here for a copy of the Program Guide distributed to Summit participants.

Participants in the summit took part in small group discussions with the support of a trained and neutral facilitator.  Through the use of interactive technology, the results of small group discussions were summarized and shared at the meeting with all of the summit participants.  Laptop computers at every table were used to record ideas at each table.  Those ideas were reviewed by a group of people to identify the strongest themes across all the tables in the room.  The ideas were reported back to the participants during the day.  Participants used individual, handheld polling devices to help prioritize their ideas.

The Board of Directors held their strategic planning session on November 10, 2009 and identified 5 key policy issues the Association will focus their resources on in 2010.

When you have a statewide organization, it provides a central place for information, and can better tell the state’s affordable housing story. Ed Kentch, First National Bank, Omaha
